Magnificent painting representing the banks of the GANGE in BENARES (INDIA) animated with characters on its original canvas, signed lower right and located. Tancrede BASTET was educated at the School of Fine Arts in Grenoble before being admitted to that of Paris (a pupil of Cabanel) and competed for the Prix de Rome in 1885. Travel abroad (India and North Africa) which allows him to renew his art. works by him are kept at the Musée de Grenoble, Bourgoin Jallieu as well as at the Musée de Lyon among others.
